Hello! Well, finally I have a "little" shop update. In the shop now is Izzy the kitty, and a couple tote bags. Hop on over and check them out!
I was supposed to have three kitties to go into the shop, but a friend bought these two sweeties before they even left the studio! Lucy and Lily now have a new home!
Where does the time go? Please, if anyone knows I'd appreciate you telling me! I was so determined to post every few days, but it has been over a week!
I have bags of apples everywhere here, and I am putting them up as fast as I can! To help me do this I use my, oh so faithful, Kitchen-Aid mixer and attachments! I'm sure many of you have the mixer, they are ubiquitous now, but when I received this as a high school graduation gift in....(drumroll please) 1983! I felt like one of the few who was so lucky to have such a wonderful device. I have really used it so much over the years, I don't know what I'd do without it, especially the attachments.
This is the "Fruit and Vegetable Strainer" attachment. It makes the smoothest applesauce. I've also used it when putting away squash for the winter. I cook the squash, then cut it up in smaller pieces, and put it though the vegetable strainer. It comes out very smooth and no "stringy fings" (things) says that four year old boy of mine!
After I use the "apple corer, peeler and slicer" sometimes some of the core pieces, skin or seeds get into the sauce, and is a real pain to get out unless you use a hand crank food mill or sieve. Using this saves time, and a sore arm from turning a crank for hours!
Anyways, after I run the apples through the corer, peeler and slicer, I cook the apples for about 10 minutes until they are a little soft. Then I put them through the food strainer. After this I put the pot back on the stove and add cinnamon, and gently cook it for about 30 minutes, until it is thicker. Pour into jars, lids on top, then in to the freezer. If I have time I will can it, but this year it was about speed. You know what I mean?

I finally got some goodies made to put into my Etsy shop. There are some pretty tote bags and a work-n-play apron for that busy child. I will have another update in a couple weeks with items that I did't get done this time.

This is that time of year where whipped cream is said in the same sentence as strawberry shortcake, at least around here that is the case. As much as I love whipped cream, and do pile it high on the strawberrys and shortcake, we still have a lot left over and it doesn't last very well in the refrigerator. I discovered a couple years ago that you can freeze it for later use, and it works really well!
Take some waxed paper and lay it out on a cookie sheet, and place serving sized dollops of the whipped cream on it. Freeze it for about an hour. Take it out and cut the waxed paper into squares around the dollops and place into a freezer container.
When you are ready to use them, take them out for about 15 minutes to soften. Then pile it high on your strawberries, or pie, or gingerbread...or...! Yum, you get what I mean!
I am working away on my goodies for the shop update on Monday. I will have some fun summer totes, refrigerator magnetics and a few children's smocks. And hopefully a few more goodies, if time allows. Off I go to the studio!

Tis' the season! I have been making ornaments for the past several weeks. Here they are! I am going to snag a few for our tree and the rest are in my shop ready to hang on your trees around the world!
This chubby pompom snowman is a one-of-a-kind little guy and is so adorable! Colin already grabbed one for himself, "I be gentle, mama". Now, how gentle is a toddler boy? Well, actually he has been very good with them, but I still made him his own special one! His big smile was sooo worth it!
These folksy modern birds are so beautiful even just hanging on a cabinet knob! We will hang ours on the tree for now, then the rest of the winter on the china cabinet door, cheering us on to spring. There are five different color ways with these beautiful birds.
The flowers are another ornament that can be kept out for all seasons. After the holidays are over hang one in the window or on a door. Cheerful aren't they?
Yeah! I had my first sale in my new shop yesterday! Thanks Rich! He bought one of my little Brag Books. I have to say, I really love these little guys. They are the easiest gift to give. Yup. No brainer. Just print off a few wallet size photos of your little cuties from your home computer, pop them in the brag book, wrap it up and there you go! Easy. Really. And, you will get loads of complements on what a cute "picture holder" you have.
Let the season begin!
These little Brag Books are in my shop today! They make really great gifts for aunts, uncles and friends, filled with pictures of your little ones. I've kept one in my purse for awhile now and when I show people the pictures inside, they usually comment on the Brag Book first....go figure!
