morning time

100_3810

Our weekday mornings are quite busy before we head to work and school, but we always make time for a good breakfast. One of our favorites is fast, yummy and healthy oatmeal with peanut butter and maple syrup. Add a glass of orange juice and you have a wholesome easy breakfast to help start your day right.

This is my recipe for the oatmeal:

3/4 c. whole oats (not instant)

1 1/2 c. water

Place water and oats in large bowl together. Cook on stove top or in the microwave, following box directions. When done cooking stir in one large dollop (a healthy tablespoon) of peanut butter and drizzle maple syrup on top. I love the "B grade" maple syrup on my oatmeal. It is becoming more common these days and should be easy to find.

There you go! Have a great day!

++ yes, that is an icecube in Colin's oatmeal! He likes to cool his down that way!

Good morning MamaShift,
Not only does it keep the "plumbing working" but it is a great way to keep the cholesterol in check! Light on the peanut butter for that though! I only use a small amount of peanut butter and my cholesterol has been normal for years. I eat a decent diet as well. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

At the retreat I was at last week, we had oatmeal every morning. It made me incredibly, ahem, regular...so I really want to incorporate it into my diet every day. Thanks for the recipe!

Hi Linnea,
Thanks for stopping by! Yes, it is a great way to eat breakfast!Sometimes I add chopped peacans to this mix....yum!

I just came across your blog on Soulemama's comments and it is great! This oatmeal sounds so yummy! I am always looking for things to toss in there.
